  • The KUB features a special ring in the shape of a truncated cone. The ring enables connections between single-wire-armoured and metal-foil-armoured cables and braided-armoured lines. This ensure a conductive connection between the cable and the cable gland. It is also possible to connect non-armoured cables and lines. The KUB also features a seal for sealing the outer cable insulation. The area of the connecting cable that is exposed after stripping the inner insulation is then encapsulated with the encapsulation compound (included in delivery). Thus all of the gaps and spaces between the individual wire strands are 100% sealed. The cable gland is certified for use in temperatures ranging from -60°C to +85°C. The O-ring and the encapsulation compound are both included in the delivery. When encapsulated, the cable gland guarantees IP66 or IP68 protection at a depth of 100 metres under water (a pressure of 10 bar).The KUB is only approved for use with pressure-resistant Ex d encapsulation. This type of cable gland must be used in the following cases: 1.) If the surroundings of an IIC device require it or when the enclosure contains components that could trigger an internal explosion (such as a flying spark)2.) When the surroundings of no group-IIC devices require it, the enclosure contains components that could trigger an internal explosion, it is a Zone-1 installation, and the enclosure volume is greater than 2 dm³.
